FAQ
The basics
What AI camera monitoring is and what Visrax does.
01What is AI camera monitoring?
AI camera monitoring is software that watches camera feeds continuously, recognises objects such as people, vehicles and equipment, and raises an alert when a configured situation occurs — for example a person entering a restricted zone, a queue growing past a threshold, or movement after hours. Instead of people watching screens, the system flags the moments that matter and attaches the evidence.
02What does Visrax do?
Visrax is AI camera monitoring software that connects to the IP cameras an organisation already owns and adds object detection, zone and line rules, movement tracking, alerts with evidence, incident workflow, analytics and a multi-site view. It is used by safety, security, operations and facilities teams.
03Is Visrax a video management system (VMS) or a replacement for my NVR?
No. Visrax runs alongside your existing recording environment. It reads the camera streams, applies detection and rules, and stores alerts with their evidence. Your VMS or NVR keeps doing the recording.
04Does Visrax use facial recognition?
No. Visrax is configured around object classes, zones, schedules and behaviour. It flags situations — a person inside an exclusion zone, a vehicle dwelling at a gate — rather than identifying who someone is.
FAQ
Cameras and compatibility
Whether the cameras you have will work.
01Can I use my existing CCTV or IP cameras for AI monitoring?
In most cases, yes. Visrax connects to any camera or recorder that exposes a standard IP stream (RTSP, with ONVIF for discovery). That covers most IP cameras from the last decade, analogue cameras behind an encoder, and cameras recorded by an NVR or DVR that exposes per-channel streams.
02Which camera brands does Visrax support?
Visrax is brand-agnostic. Compatibility depends on the camera exposing a standard stream and being reachable on the network, not on the manufacturer. Camera placement and image quality matter more than the logo.
03What resolution and frame rate do the cameras need?
Standard HD streams are sufficient for most zones. Fast-moving views such as gates and roads benefit from higher frame rates than a lobby or office floor. Each camera that will carry rules is reviewed during setup.
04Do I need to install anything on the cameras?
No. Nothing is installed on the cameras. Visrax connects to their streams over the network, so setup does not interrupt recording or production.
FAQ
Detection, rules and alerts
What the system watches for and how your team hears about it.
01What can AI camera monitoring detect?
Core classes are people, vehicles of several types, forklifts and common site equipment, plus safety gear such as helmets and high-visibility vests. Detection is enabled per camera, so a yard camera watches vehicles and a production camera watches people and PPE.
02How are alerts configured?
You draw zones and crossing lines on the camera view, then attach rules: presence, entry, direction, dwell time, PPE required, count above a threshold. Each rule has a schedule and a severity, so a zone can be open during maintenance and restricted during production.
03What does an alert contain?
The camera, zone, time and severity, plus the triggering frame, a short clip and the movement path, stored automatically. Alerts become incidents that can be assigned, commented on, escalated and closed, with the full history kept for audits.
04How do you reduce false alarms?
Rules support schedules, minimum durations, class filters and exclusion zones. During a pilot, closed incidents are marked as genuine or expected activity, and that feedback is used to tune thresholds before alerts go live to the wider team.
05Can alerts go to email, Slack or Teams?
Alerts appear in the live workspace and can be routed to email and messaging channels by severity, site and time of day, so they reach the on-duty team or an external monitoring partner.
FAQ
Deployment, data and security
Where video is processed and who can see what.
01Where is the video processed — on site or in the cloud?
Either. Visrax offers fully on-premises deployment, where video is analysed and stored inside your environment and nothing leaves the site, as well as cloud deployment. Sites with limited bandwidth typically process locally and send only events and evidence to the central view.
02How long is footage and evidence kept?
Retention is configurable to your policy, separately for alerts, clips and incident records.
03Who can see the cameras and evidence?
Access is role-based and scoped by site, zone and team. Every view, assignment, comment and status change is logged against the user and time.
04Can Visrax monitor many sites from one place?
Yes. Cameras are organised into areas, sites and regions. Alerts, camera health and analytics roll up through that hierarchy, so a regional lead sees which sites need attention without opening each one.
FAQ
Getting started
Pilots, pricing and what happens first.
01How does a pilot start?
With a site walkthrough. Together we pick a handful of high-value zones — a forklift crossing, a machine cell, a loading bay, a restricted room — configure rules from existing footage, run them in review mode for a week with the supervisors who will receive them, and then switch on live routing.
02How much does AI camera monitoring cost?
Visrax is priced per deployment based on the number of cameras, sites and the deployment model. There is no published price list; a demo request is the fastest way to get a quote for your estate.
03How long does setup take?
Because nothing is installed on the cameras, a focused pilot is usually live within weeks. Expansion to further lines and sites reuses the proven rule set with local zones.
04Which industries use Visrax?
Manufacturing, warehousing and logistics, offices and commercial buildings, textile mills, retail, construction, healthcare, education, traffic and transportation, energy and utilities, and critical infrastructure. Each has its own configuration guide on this site.
